Forgiveness

FORGIVENESS
Oh, to be alive
To be alive with grace
To stand naked in the Holy light
To be alive with grace.
To shed this skin like armor
To shed this serpent veil
Oh, to turn these pearls
To turn these pearls back into sand
And let them wash away
let them wash away at oceans edge.
To shed this skin like armor
To shed this serpent veil
Oh, the tears will empty
Empty into the ancient seas
the ships will sail on these ancient seas.
Sacred vessels of forgotten love
The sacred vessels of forgotten love
To a shore that’s pure forgiveness
To a heart that’s pure forgiveness.
And shed this skin like armor
And shed this serpent veil
Oh to be alive
To be alive with Grace
To stand naked in the Holy light
To be alive with grace.

Genius at War

Oh, the storm has gone to sea
Crawling like an old friend
It never goes as planned
No, it never goes as planned.
The tipping point was clear
you covered all your bases.
It’s why you close the doors
It’s why you close the doors.
It’s done with steel precision
Through the provences of chance
No doubt, just resolution
You’ll soldier through the plan.
The sun will warm the ground
You’ll turn to face the cold
You’ve nothing left to lose.
You’ve nothing left to lose.

The Floor

THE FLOOR
The wind blew down the old street
And froze me at my feet
Your fire was on the other side
Of my geography.
Would you ever scrape away the frost
To see how I might be
Or leave your night light burning
To search my destiny.
My rooms are small and white
I’ll leave my shoes outside the door
Every love I’ve ever had
Will dance across these empty floors.
My paintings hang to hide the cracks
In crumbling ancient walls
Isn’t it the artist’s hand
That leads sunlight through it all
Please deliver me a gypsy soul
So I can watch the rain
gather all my treasures
And wash them down the drain
My rooms are small and white
I’ll leave my shoes outside the door
Every love I’ve ever had
Will dance across these empty floors.
I‘ll wear the ribbons of my pain
As it was born to be
Oh, the many things I learned from you
When you walked away from me
My rooms are small and white
I’ll leave my shoes outside the door
Every love I’ve ever had
Will dance across these empty floors

Man is at Sea

MAN IS AT SEA
Searching eyes in deep blue pain
In stormy rage upon the seas
Pinwheel stars to light the way
The fearless angel sailed away.
The colors will release me,
the colors will release me
Man is at sea
In mothers deep blue dress
Rocking in her arms
While the moonlight
rolls, rolls, rolls
Across her breast
Hold your hand above the flame
To time a momentary grace
We were born in slavery
Beauty is the master.
Man is at sea
In mothers deep blue dress
Rocking in her arms
While the moonlight rolls, rolls, rolls
Across her breast.
Missionary of love and beauty
Gave your soul to fill their walls
And entered to their winter rooms
Your epistolary gaze.
The colors will release me,
the colors will release me.

Caterpillar

CATERPILLAR
Powder flies, black and blue
Fold your wings and sow the sun
Remember when you were young
Dirty lies, dirty lies.
Pin you to your final whisper
Frame it out for all to see
Remember when you were a child
Dirty lies, dirty lies.
Sing softly caterpillar
Your days in waiting will be done
For every day you’ve every crawled
Dirty lies, dirty lies
Powder flies, black and blue
Sell your wings and sow the sun
Remember when you were young
Dirty lies, dirty lies.

Mercy

MERCY
One day it makes a difference
One day behind the sun
Gather up your sticks and prayers
Its time to move along.
Breaks my heart to walk away
But I’ve nothing here to lose
Important as it use to seem
I’ts really of no use.
It takes a sharp sharp knife
To cut you from your past
It takes a handful of mercy
To keep you on that path.
I’m wiping down the chalk board
And I’m dusting off my hands
Turning towards the east
Where the sun will rise again.
I’ll dig myself a shallow grave
As plain as it could be
And on the headstone I will carve
Here lies what use to be.
It takes a sharp sharp knife
To cut you from your past
It takes a handful of mercy
To keep you on that path.
